Shell Malaysia Scholarships

Every year, we offer a number of scholarships to support students in achieving their personal goals and ambitions.

Malaysian students planning to pursue full-time undergraduate studies (1st degree course) tenable at recognised universities in Malaysia or Overseas are eligible to apply.

Also on offer are 2 post-graduate scholarships at Universiti Teknologi Petronas.

Applications for the Shell Malaysia Scholarships 2012 are now open.

Disabled students are encouraged to apply.

  • Scholarships for Post-Graduate Studies

    Shell Malaysia is offering two scholarships to students who wish to pursue post graduate studies at Universiti Teknologi Petronas in the following:

    • MSc in Petroleum Engineering
    • MSc in Geosciences 

    Eligibility
    Open to all Malaysian students who wish to pursue post graduate studies at Universiti Teknologi Petronas in the above disciplines.

  • Local Scholarships

    This is open to students who will be undertaking full time first degree courses at the preferred Malaysian and JPA approved international universities based in Malaysia.

    Preferred Degree Discipline

    • Any Technical Engineering or Geosciences Discipline

    *Students with physical disabilities (Orang Kurang Upaya) are not restricted in their choice and may apply to do a degree in any discipline.

    Eligibility

    • Strong leadership skills and active participation in extracurricular activities such as societies and clubs, sports, etc.
    • Not presently holding other scholarship/loans.
    • Disabled Identification Card certified by Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat (where applicable)
    • Consistently strong academic achievements as follows:

      For Undergraduate studies
      - Strong academic results in the STPM (minimum 3A+ or A- & 1B) or A-Levels (minimum 2A’s & 1B)
      - Minimum of 3.5 CGPA at Matriculation / Diploma level

    Applications
    Applications may be submitted based on the latest semester results (for Matriculation, Diploma and ‘A’ Levels students) or trial examination results (for STPM students).
    Shell Malaysia reserves the right to verify the information provided. Shell Malaysia aims to reflect the diversity of the communities it works in and will award the scholarships on this basis.

    This will be offered to students who plan to pursue their studies at the following universities and in these fields, in the United Kingdom or United States:

    List of preferred overseas universities and degree disciplines:

    • Imperial College London – Geosciences, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
    • Massachusetts Institute of Technology – Mechanical, Civil or Electrical Engineering
    • Texas A&M University – Petroleum Engineering only
    • University of Bristol – Geosciences, Mechanical, Civil or Electrical Engineering
    • University of Cambridge – Geosciences, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
    • University of Sheffield – Mechanical or Electrical Engineering

    Eligibility

    • Strong leadership skills qualities and active participation in extracurricular activities such as societies and clubs, sports, etc.

    • Not presently holding other scholarship/loans.

    • Disabled Identification Card certified by Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat (where applicable)

      - Strong academic results in the STPM Trial Examination (minimum 3A+ or A- & 1B) or A-Levels Forecast Results (minimum 2A’s & 1B)

    How did you benefit from Shell Malaysia Scholarship?
    The financial assistance was a great help of course as it provides me the opportunity to study in the university. Apart from that, I also benefited from the support network from other Shell Scholars.
     
    How would you describe your role in Shell?
    Challenge, change and chance to keep learning. As part of the financial reporting team in a business, it is my responsibility to ensure that the financials that we report to the Group on a monthly basis is accurate and reliable to be used by the management for decision making purposes.
     
    What do you like most about the job?
    A variety of tasks, a high level of interaction with people and the chance to develop my skills. Others factors includes conducive working environment, good work/life balance, and opportunities for the future
     
    How's your experience in getting the job? 
    Via Shell Recruitment Day (SRD) which I think is the toughest interview I've been to. We were given real-life case studies/issues to solve which requires a lot of on-the-spot critical thinking.
     
    Things that you can't live without?
    Handphone.

    • Only shortlisted candidates will be notified for interview.
    • Incomplete Application Form and late submission will be rejected.
    • If you do not receive any reply from us by 2nd March 2012, your application is therefore considered unsuccessful.
    • Only completed application received via the online registration portal will be processed. Please do not email or post your application.
