Shell holds annual Practical Environmental, Safety and Industrial Guidance for Engineers (PRESTIGE) workshops in Sabah and Sarawak, in partnership with local universities, the state Departments of Environment and Departments of Occupational Safety and Health.
Over the last few years, thousands of engineering undergraduates in Sabah and Sarawak have successfully completed this capacity building programme, which highlights Shell’s best practice in health, safety and environment (HSE) and showcases how they are applied in the workplace using real-world examples.
PRESTIGE aims to create awareness among these undergraduates on the importance of a HSE culture, to ensure they make HSE concerns part and parcel of their work culture.
The programme is designed to benefit student engineers as they enter the workforce, to help them appreciate the importance of good HSE practices, and recognise their roles and responsibilities in ensuring HSE implementation.
This interactive workshop covers practical HSE knowledge, tools and best practice to help these engineers identify HSE risks present in the work place and manage them accordingly. Participants are divided into small groups and given case studies that test their HSE knowledge, tools and best practice learnt during the sessions.
