Team firecracker from universiti teknikal malaysia melaka (utem) was varsity challenge 2019 winner!

Team Firecracker from Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM) developed a road safety solution called the Change Lane Alert Assist (CLASs) where the prototype alerts other vehicle drivers against potential head-on collisions. CLASs is specifically designed for the implementation in heavy vehicles where it consists of LIDAR sensors and LED panel. While driving on single-lane roads, the LIDAR sensors detect any incoming vehicle in the opposite direction and provide the alert through its LED panel that is positioned at the rear end of the vehicle. The system will continuously update when it is safe for other vehicles to overtake.
The grand finale ceremony was held at the #mydigitalmaker Fair 2019 with top 5 finalists presented and showcased their prototypes to a panel of judges from Shell Malaysia, Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (MIROS) and Department of Higher Education (JPT). The #SSSVC grand champion received cash prize of RM 10,000 together with the coveted trophy and certificates.
