What’s in it for the graduates
[Shairan]
Once you get on into the Graduate Programme you are exposed to so many parts of the business and if you search early enough you will discover as I did what you are passionate about. Once you have that passion it allows you now to setup yourself a goal that you want to aspire towards.

Opportunities and Growth
[Shafieza]
Opportunities exist everywhere but only in Shell Graduate Programme that you can materialize those opportunities. So it is possible for you to do the things that might take someone 10, 15 years to be able to do but they give you that chance to do it now.
[Adam]
The opportunities and the investment that Shell put into their graduates are outstanding. The amount of investment they put into your learning and training, the networking opportunities you have, and they expose you to a lot of the leaders and those exposures are very frequent as well. And this makes for a fun and learning and a good environment. All you have to do is seize the opportunity and have fun at the same time.

Challenging roles from Day 1
[Chandini]
Within my first few days I was very fortunate to actually been given the trust to handle a project, to see the project all the way through until we executed it. And that was very exciting.
[Anna Joy]
I had the opportunity to go for an international assignment in the Netherlands. This is my fifth month in the role. I've come to realize how big we are as an organization having been based in the headquarters. I have had the opportunity to network with the different leaders and I think one thing that really surprised me was actually how real these people are.

Supportive Leaders
[Afiq]
They give you the space to grow so you have that independence. But because, you know, it is a very big company so we have processes. So they make sure you know that as well. So it is a good mix I feel.
[Shafieza]
She always ensures that I get the opportunities that I need and she gives me platform to grow. And she seeks out all these opportunities for me to make sure I am visible to the leaders.

Great work environment and People
[Chandini]
I think the people. The people really do drive the company. The people here are generally very positive and they all have their own personalities. And they just have such drive in life that is impeccable.

Life outside work
[Afiq]
I have a doctorate degree so prior to this I wanted to become a teacher. Before this I was living in Miri and after work I would usually go and teach some of the kampung kids in the Miri area and that has given me a lot of joy. After work, even on weekends as well,
I teach them English, I teach them Mathematics and I help them to learn.
[Adam]
One of the programmes that I've participated in that is organized by Shell is the My Geek Movement. So it is a 3-year long social investment project of about 1.5 million and it is expected to reach out to 225 students across Malaysia. So what it does is to encourage or inspire students to be interested in the Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics field, the STEM field.

We asked 3 former Shell Graduates
What made you apply to the Shell Graduate Programme?
[Trisyella]
I looked through the Shell Graduate Programme and how structured the learning was and the competencies that were aligned within the programme it just made me click the button and there was no going back ever since.
[Text displays]
What did you like about the Shell Graduate Programme?
[Yuki]
It will be the dedication of the business leaders towards all the graduate development. They have created a lot of windows of opportunity for us. To be very frank how many companies are willing to take risks in their graduates by giving them important projects or even rotate them to different roles within three years.
[Text displays]
How has the Programme benefitted you in your development?
[Andy]
In general when we have assignments it is pretty stretched and besides doing base loads the expectations of delivering extra on top of your base load is there. So the degree of growth is pretty immense.

How has the Programme fulfilled your professional growth?

Accelerated Career Growth
[Trisyella]
I started off as an Analyst looking after different finance functions such as Credit, MI (Management Information), Reporting. Then I moved on to a role which was Finance Advisory so from operational role within Shell I moved into a business role. And in that role I looked at divestment cases so I did a lot of economics and inputs for managerial decisions and I moved on now from the programme and having a managerial position so today I am a Retailer Billing and Interface Manager.

Varied Career
[Yuki]
I’m currently doing my fifth role in Shell with average rotation of three years. I started my career in Shell in Retail Sales and Operations then I did two roles in Network Development including an assignment in Singapore. After Singapore I came back to Malaysia for a Retail Leadership role before coming to Switzerland for a role in Global Retail Business.

Marking an Impact
[Andy]
One of the roles that I have been in within the programme is the Business Performance Lead role. I was working with the Contracting and Procurement division of the organization so we basically developed the short term, medium term and long term strategy for the organization and then we executed and drive the business plan as well.
