Sepang, 30 October 2017 – Shell Malaysia took this year’s Malaysia Motorcycle Grand Prix race to new heights, converting the Shell Hillstand into a 1 kilometre (1 km) carnival in celebration of its title sponsorship for 2017, a title held in eight of the past nine races. The event saw 20,000 MotoGP fans visiting the Shell Hillstand for an adrenaline-packed race, with thousands more sharing their excitement on the Shell Live platform.

Across the weekend, avid MotoGP fans were treated to a unique experience at the Shell Hillstand, overlooking Turn 13 and 14 of the Sepang International Circuit (SIC). Along with two large LED screens running a live feed of the race, the Shell Hillstand offered fans clear views of the track, where they witnessed the Ducati Team clinch a 1-2 podium finish at this year’s Shell Malaysia Motorcycle Grand Prix.

Visitors to the Shell Hillstand were greeted by a display of 136 Ducati bikes on race day, and got to enjoy a wide range of experiential activities for the whole family across the weekend, including ample food and beverages and attractive prizes ranging from local clothing brand Empayar KUKUBESI to Oakley merchandise.

Additionally, more than 500 bikers experienced the Shell Advance difference first-hand with the Shell Advance Ride Thru Mobile Oil Change service in the P1 carpark. Those who purchased Shell Advance Ultra, AX7 or AX5 Scooter oil enjoyed a free oil change service and free parking in addition to other gifts.

Additionally, thousands of MotoGP enthusiasts from around the world tuned in to participate in Shell Live, an online platform designed to provide fans with access to some of the world’s biggest motorsports events. Through Shell Live, fans submitted questions to former Formula 1 driver Alex Yoong, who took them on a unique, behind-the-scenes live tour of the Shell Hillstand and Welcome Centre as well as the Ducati Corse Garage to meet with title contender Andrea Dovizioso and three-time MotoGP world champion, Jorge Lorenzo, both riders from the Ducati Team. The celebrations continued into the weekend as MotoGP World Championship contender and Ducati Team rider Andrea Dovizioso stormed to victory at the Shell Malaysia Motorcycle Grand Prix with teammate Jorge Lorenzo finishing second. This result marks Ducati’s sixth win of a hotly-contested 2017 season, with Dovizioso and Lorenzo now placed second and seventh respectively in the 2017 MotoGP World Championship heading into the final race of the season in two weeks’ time at Valencia.
