Practical Environmental, Safety and Industrial Guidance for Engineers (PRESTIGE)
The Practical Environmental, Safety and Industrial Guidance for Engineers workshop aims to create awareness among future engineers on the importance of health, safety and environment in their work.
Shell holds an annual Practical Environmental, Safety and Industrial Guidance for Engineers (PRESTIGE) workshops in Sabah and Sarawak, in partnership with local universities, the state Departments of Environment and Departments of Occupational Safety and Health.
Over the last few years, thousands of engineering undergraduates in Sabah and Sarawak have successfully completed this capacity building programme, which highlights Shell’s best practice in health, safety and environment (HSE) and showcases how they are applied in the workplace using real-world examples.
Campus Ambassador Programmes
Shell Malaysia is one of the pioneers of the Campus Ambassador Programme, targeted at creating an effective and diverse talent pool for Shell Malaysia.
Through this programme, Shell fosters relationships between academia and the energy industry through curriculum development and activities that enhance a university graduate’s employability.
Activities done through this programme are tailored based on the needs and requirements of the universities to ensure its relevance to the students. Examples of this are Skill Based Workshops and Experential Sharing Sessions, to give students an insight into a career with Shell.
Tungog Rainforest Eco-Camp
Located at the Pin Supu Forest Reserve at Batu Puteh-Kinabatangan in Sabah, the Tungog eco-camp serves as a platform to monitor, learn about and protect the surrounding forests of the Lower Kinabatangan Floodplain.
Designed jointly by local youths using the latest eco-friendly design principles and technology, the eco-camp was constructed and will be operated with minimal impact to the environment. The eco-camp continues to provide a sustainable livelihood for some 100 young people of Batu Puteh.
Shell Malaysia partnered with the local community and Raleigh International in establishing the eco-camp which is a part of a wider sustainable tourism project by WWF Malaysia.
Nature Education Centre
The Nature Education Centre was established in 1993 as a joint project of Shell Malaysia, Forest Research Institute Malaysia and Malaysian Nature Society.
