Jill’s story embodies the spirit of resilience, humility, and ambition. From her early days in Sibu, nurtured by a family of educators and empowered through Shell’s scholarship programme, she grew up believing that potential exists everywhere, but opportunity is what unlocks it. That belief shaped her leadership journey across three decades in Shell, where she rose through technical, operational, and strategic roles to become a respected senior leader, driving Malaysia’s upstream projects. Her path demonstrates that when access and pathways are created, women, no matter where they come from can thrive in even the most complex and male‑dominated sectors.
Throughout her career, Jill has broken barriers with courage, curiosity, and a deep commitment to learning. From her early operational experience in Bintulu to becoming the first female Malaysian Project Manager, she led with a strong north star: doing the right thing, empowering teams, and embracing challenges head-on. She has not only proven that women belong in engineering, projects, and operations but she has also actively created space for more women to lead. By deliberately placing women in senior roles, championing visibility, and mentoring emerging talent, she has helped shape a more inclusive, more capable generation of women in STEM and energy.
Today, Jill stands as a powerful example of what true empowerment looks like: leadership grounded in purpose, compassion, and an unwavering belief in people. She has balanced global responsibilities while raising three daughters, showing that careers and families do not compete. On the contrary, they strengthen each other with the right support. Her story is a reminder that when women rise, communities rise and the future becomes brighter for everyone around them.
