Inspiring Inclusion
Faridah Hanim Darwis, the Facilities Manager for Trading & Supply at Shell Malaysia Trading, is an inspiring leader with a career spanning more than 20 years in supply chain operations, commercial, business development, and business strategy roles.
In her current role, Faridah oversees all terminals that store petroleum products for Shell’s downstream customers. She is in charge of 13 terminals across the country and leads a team of 180, comprising Shell staff and contractors.
Faridah began her journey with Shell through its graduate program in 2002 and was attached to the Road Transport department, covering scheduling, analysis, and leading contract negotiations for Southeast Asia. She subsequently moved on to a front-line role as a Terminal Manager in Kuantan. In 2009, she joined Malaysia Shipping International Corporation (MISC), where she developed and built strategic tank terminals in Johor, now represented by Tanjong Langsat and Tanjong Bin. Following that, she joined Chevron as a Regional Transport Manager covering operations in Cambodia & Malaysia. She then returned to Shell to take on the role of Road Transport Operations lead, followed by lead roles in supply chain integration and operations.
This dynamic leader who graduated from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) with a degree in business majoring in accounting believes that women can excel in any career that they pursue with resilience and a never-give-up attitude. For her, inclusion, open communication and working together as a team are key attributes towards one’s career development.
