Shell MDS on Bintulu Community, Employment & Road Safety
Shell MDS has been part of the Bintulu community for 25 years and is committed to ensuring that the local community shares in the benefits of our operations, whether through creating direct and indirect employment, building community capacity and skills, or fostering a strong road safety culture in Bintulu.
Over the past 5 years, Shell MDS has invested over RM3.2 million in community, education, road safety and environmental programmes. Some of our flagship initiatives include:
- Project LINK – in partnership with Kolej Vokasional Bintulu, Shell MDS provides welding training and certification for a selected number of students annually.
- #ShellSelamatSampai – a Shell Malaysia road safety programme championed by Shell MDS in Bintulu, aiming to alter perceptions of road safety amongst the youth.
- Internship programme for local undergraduates as a platform to expose them to an actual working environment and to provide them with hands on working experience.
One of our continued commitments is to listen and respond to issues and concerns particularly from our neighbouring communities. This is made possible through our Community Feedback Mechanism.
