A Journey of Grit, Resilience and Determination
Mar 08, 2023
Tawau born Juliana Mabel Sidin has always believed in one thing; commitment towards contribution to underprivileged and reaching out to them where and when needed.
A retailer with Shell for 15 years, Juliana’s initial journey was not an easy one. She was juggling work and family, comprising young children, as her husband was attached with an organisation at that point of time. She used to work 12 hours straight in her retail stations, managing each and every aspect, all by herself. It was indeed difficult but this resilient lady remained strong and persevered through it all. Today, she is successfully running her retail station and doing what she is passionate about; giving back to her society.
A person who believes that everyone should be given an equal opportunity in life, Juliana has hired many underprivileged people from rural areas comprising Nabawan and Babagon to work in her station. She has also organised a few events at her station for the community, which includes blood donation drives and a collaboration with the fire department to educate villagers on how to avoid fire accidents and ways to manage a fire hazard.
One of this thoughtful retailer’s most notable contributions is setting up a community corner at her station, where local communities from rural areas can display their items and sell them to the public. Alongside donating food and clothing to victims during the floods and pandemic, Juliana’s work for the community continues as she believes in reaching out the needy where and when needed.
