Frequently asked questions

What is a pre-authorisation?

A pre-authorisation is a temporary hold on a specific amount from the available balance in the credit or debit card. It is used to verify that the card is active and has sufficient available funds prior to dispensing fuel.

What happens when I use my credit or debit card at a self-service pump with an outdoor payment terminal (OPT) ?

When you use your credit or debit card at a self-service pump with an OPT, it will authorise the fuel transaction before you can start pumping fuel into your vehicle. This is performed by sending a pre-authorisation amount on the payment card to your card issuer.

If a customer does not indicate their preferred amount, then the system will apply the standard pre-authorisation amount that is RM200 for Visa / Mastercard or RM250 for Amex.

Once the fueling is completed, any underfilling amount will immediately be released (for credit card) or refunded (for debit card) to the customer.

Is the amount deducted from my available balance of credit limit?

For Credit Cards: Yes, this amount will be earmarked from the available balance of the customer’s credit limit until final sales completion.

For Debit Cards: Yes, the customer’s debit card account will be debited (amount deducted) with the amount until final sales completion.

Is pre-authorisation applied for Indoor Payments?

Yes, it applies for indoor payments, all fuels purchases made with an indoor payment terminal whether using a credit or debit card, will be subjected to pre-authorisation similar to the OPTs.

The customer’s account will then be pre-authorised (for credit card) or debited (for debit card) with the customer’s preferred amount and the same amount will also be used to reserve the pump.

For indoor payments, any underfilling amount will be released (for credit card) or refunded (for debit card) within 5 working days, depending on the issuing banks.

Can I use my credit or debit card for an in-store purchase and is there any minimum purchase amount?

Yes, there is no minimum purchase amount for payments made with a credit or debit card.

Can I combine both fueling and in store purchase in one single transaction?

Yes, customers are to inform the cashier their desired fueling amount, for example RM50. For indoor payments, any underfilling amount will be released (for credit card) or refunded (for debit card) within 5 working days, depending on the issuing banks.

What happens if there is a duplicate charge for the same transaction?

Kindly report to your bank if you notice any duplicate charges in your statement within your bank’s stipulated time frame for reporting such charges. The bank will then verify the cardholder’s statement against the transaction date and amount. If it is found to be genuine, the bank shall refund the amount manually.

What if I don’t receive my pre-authorisation refund amount after 5 working days?

Kindly report to your issuing bank for further investigation.
