Miri, Sarawak - Shell Rimula paid tribute to 400 hardworking truckers and loyal customers from across the country at a special appreciation gala dinner at Imperial Hotel, Miri, Sarawak this evening.
Miri was chosen to host the 2012 edition of the event as Sarawak, with its many long haul routes, is one of the key markets for Shell Rimula, which is the best-selling heavy duty diesel engine oil brand in Malaysia.
At the event, Shell Rimula also proudly presented the 10 winners of its inaugural Shell Rimula ‘Hardworking’ Contest.
The lucky Malaysians will join winners from around the world for a 4-day 3-night all-expense paid holiday to France from October 12 to 15, 2012. The highlight of the trip is the opportunity to watch the fastest trucks in the continent compete in the 2012 European Truck Racing Championship Finals at Le Mans.
The contest was part of the unique ‘Hardworking’ global campaign launched by Shell Rimula this year.
In Malaysia, the Shell Rimula ‘Hardworking’ campaign had kicked off in June this year with the launch of two new high performance heavy duty diesel engine oils -- the Shell Rimula R5 LE synthetic-technology and the fully synthetic Shell Rimula R6 LM heavy duty diesel engine oils.
Aside from print and radio advertisements, the star of the campaign was the 40-tonne Shell Rimula ‘Hardworking’ Truck. During the two-month long roadshow in July and August 2012, the custom-made recreation truck made stops at designated rest areas along the North-South Highway in Peninsula Malaysia, in the Sarawakian towns of Sibu and Miri and Kundasang and Sandakan in Sabah.
At each of the stops, free haircuts, hot coffee and cold drinks as well as Shell Rimula Toiletry Kits and water bottles were handed out to hardworking truckers. For the many weary truckers who spend hours on the road daily, it was a pleasant and much welcomed surprise.
According to Ms Chia Uen Li, Cluster General Manager, Shell Lubricants SEA-South, it was an exciting year for the Shell Rimula brand as it rolled out its first-ever global campaign.
“Our campaign theme was ‘Hardworking’, which was Shell Rimula’s way of demonstrating our empathy with the many hardworking truck drivers out there who play a major role in keeping our economy running. Our message was simple -- Shell Rimula understands how hard you work and you deserve a break. For 10 of our customers, the break turned out to be a dream holiday to France,” she said.
Ms Chia stressed that Shell continuously leverages on its technology leadership to create products and services that can improve performance, increase efficiency and lower fuel consumption.
“As businesses worldwide continue to grapple with rising operating costs and increasing competition, we understand the need to better manage transportation costs, especially those with in-house fleets. The new Shell Rimula R5 LE and Shell Rimula R6 LM were created to help do just that,” she said.
Both the Shell Rimula R5 LE and R6 LM are designed to help businesses lower operating costs and maximise fleet utilisation by helping reduce fuel consumption, equipment downtime due to excessive wear and maintenance costs by extending oil drain intervals.
As the first synthetic-technology product in the Shell Rimula range, the Shell Rimula R5 LE is a cost-effective alternative to fully synthetic lubricants while the enhanced Shell Rimula R6 LM fully synthetic oil is a proven product used by many of the largest transportation companies in the world.
Both the Shell Rimula R5 LE and R6 LM are actually part of a total lubricants solution for fleet operators.
“One of the key reasons why we are the market leader in Malaysia and the world is our specially designed product and business solutions offering called Drive Line. It comprises a complete portfolio of technologically superior products that protect every driveline component – Shell Rimula heavy duty diesel engine oils; Shell Spirax transmission, axle and gear oils; and Shell Gadus greases,” said Ms Chia.
