Kuala Lumpur – In conjunction with Malaysia’s participation in Shell Eco-marathon Asia 2014 – Shell FuelSave Ambassador, Fahrin Ahmad will be embarking on a two-day driving challenge across the Klang Valley with actress and model, Lisa Surihani.

Dubbed the Shell FuelSave Celebrity Driving Challenge, this event will see both Fahrin and Lisa visiting selected colleges and universities participating in Shell Eco-marathon Asia 2014 on January 15 to 16, as Fahrin coaches Lisa on how to be a more fuel efficient driver. Along the way, they will meet and greet students and consumers, play a variety of exciting Target One Million games and even conduct an exciting sketch specially created to bring the Shell FuelSave Tips to life. The public can follow Lisa’s journey on Facebook and Twitter via the hashtag #Lisa4ShellMY.

“We are delighted to have Lisa Surihani drive alongside our Shell FuelSave Ambassador, Fahrin Ahmad. We want Lisa and Fahrin to demonstrate to Malaysian motorists just how far they can go on a full tank of Shell FuelSave 95 coupled with the smart usage of Shell FuelSave Tips,” said Leslie Ng, Retail National Sales Manager, Shell Malaysia Trading Sdn. Fahrin aims to prepare Lisa for her challenge in Manila where she will be competing against other celebrity drivers from countries like Thailand, Philippines and Singapore to go the furthest distance in a Shell Eco-marathon prototype car. By imparting the Shell FuelSave Tips, he hopes to help Lisa make smarter choices as a driver.

“It is very exciting, but at the same time, I am a little nervous to be taking this challenge,” shared Lisa prior to her coaching session with Fahrin. “I do look forward to learning from Fahrin about fuel efficiency because he is the Shell FuelSave Ambassador and has emerged Champion before. Hopefully, I can show everyone how easy it is to be more fuel efficient by choosing the right fuel and making a few changes to the way we drive.”

About Shell Eco-marathon

Shell Eco-marathon began in 1939 at a Shell research laboratory in the United States as a friendly wager between scientists to see who could get the most miles per gallon from their vehicle. The winner of that contest barely achieved 50 mpg (21 km/l) and from these humble origins a more organised competition evolved.

In 1985 in France, Shell Eco-marathon as we know it today was born. In 2007, the Shell Eco-marathon Americas event was launched in the United States. In 2010, the inaugural Shell Eco-marathon Asia was held in Malaysia, where the event was hosted until 2013. In 2014, Shell Eco-marathon Asia will be held in Manila, the Philippines, where the event will be hosted until 2016.
